(I can’t quite imagine a “widow’s wedding cake”…)
I was going in a totally different direction, but then I spied Dawn Coelin’s page from Day 5 (shown below) & couldn’t resist challenging you to make a paper-pieced embellishment. Although Dawn’s is a 2-D image it is made of a few simple shapes dressed up with a little detailing.
Does it have to be a cake? No, unless you want it to be. Think triangles stacked as trees or pinwheels… I even saw an uber-easy way to make candy corn from stacked circles on Pinterest! Dig into your special bits & bobs to adorn what you’ve made from a little scissor play.
