Using a sketch is an amazing way to speed up your scrapbooking and create a layout you love.
Turning a sketch into a layout can be a bit tricky. You need to consider how the sketch can be interpreted to fit your photos, supplies and story.
For February the ScrapHappy members used this sketch:
It’s nice to see an example of how the sketch will look as a layout, but what’s even better is seeing 10 examples of how the sketch can be turned into a layout!
1.Alice Boll used the sketch as it was, with two vertical photos and titles and journaling as indicated in the sketch.
2. Teresa Smith added hidden journaling on a tag and added a few embellishment clusters.
3. Becky Rivera traded in some of the text and title blocks for extra photos, as well as trading the two vertical photos for a larger horizontal photo.
4. Jacqueline Bruce used two different sizes of vertical photos as well as playing up the circles by adding them in the papers and in the bottom subtitle.
5. Kelly Shults shows how to change the proportions of the sketch. She left a wide section of white space at the bottom of the page and moved the photos and layers up to the top 2/3. She added extra layers of patterned paper and a nice visual triangle of embellishment clusters to finish it off.
6. Libby Wiers used the digital .psd file available to ScrapHappy members to create a digital version of this layout.
7. Lela Norris switched from two vertical photos to a single horizontal photo. She also made great use of a pocket card for one of the title sections.
8. Karen Fitting created a digital layout. Instead of using different layers of background papers she created layers with the same paper for a really fun effect. She also flipped this layout on it’s side to suit her photos… such a great tip for working with a sketch!
9. Diane Gutierrez used the sketch as is, including using pocket cards to add extra text/subtitles.
10. Kristie Sloan switched her journaling and her extra subtitles while keeping most of the sketch as is.
