Day 5
Prompt:
Day 5: Uncommon Type: Did you know Tom Hanks is a writer? His 2017 book of short stories is entitled Uncommon Type. In each short story there is a typewriter, either playing a minor part and sometimes central to the story. Tom Hanks collects typewriters.
Story: Create an “about the author” type of journaling for your layout. Give a short synopsis that describes you and tells about part of your story, experience or outlook on life.
Technique: Incorporate a typewriter in your layout. You could use a typewriter image, a typewriter font, mention a typewriter in the journaling or find some other creative way to make a layout inspired by “Uncommon Type”.

I was excited about this prompt as I bought myself a new old typewriter this summer. It’s a manual typewriter and it reminds me of my childhood when I learned how to type on an old manual machine. I can’t tell you how many times I jammed my fingers between those keys… ouch! I loved watching my words, thoughts and stories appear on the paper and I still love it now. I also was able to reminisce about spending time enjoying nature in our new old RV that we bought this summer. We had a lot of adventures that brought me closer to the beauty of nature.
I created my own “typewriter” background paper by typing some random thoughts on the plaid paper, and then I typed my journaling, imperfect and all on the white paper.
