Today’s post is brought to you by the letters G-R-E-E-N! Green is a versatile color that adds freshness, balance, and vibrancy to scrapbook pages. Whether you’re crafting a nature-inspired spread, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, or simply want a pop of color, here are quick and easy ways to incorporate green into your layouts and projects!

1. Use Papers & Backgrounds

A simple way to bring green into your layout is by starting with a great base! Whether bold or subtle, these ideas make it easy:

  • Patterned Paper – Choose florals, plaids, polka dots, or geometric designs with green.
  • Solid Cardstock – Layer green cardstock as a background or photo mat.
  • Ink Blending or Stenciling – Create soft green backgrounds using distress inks or stencils.
  • Torn Paper Edges – Tear green paper for a textured, organic look.
This green swirled patterned paper has impact, for sure! The inky green splotches on the gear paper to the left also ties in complementary elements.
The torn, curled edges on this layout reveal a different shade of green underneath. Plus, the monochromatic focus was perfect for a themed St. Patrick's Day page.
Paper featuring plaid, florals, and bows show off the green on this layout.
The solid green cardstock I used on this memorydex card grounds the other elements without being too overpowering.
For this card I lightly blended a green background. Then, I used a stencil and blended a darker shade using the same coloured ink.

2. Add Embellishments & Accents

If you just need a little pop of green, embellishments are your best friend! Try these quick and easy options:

  • Die-Cut Leaves & Foliage – Perfect for nature, seasonal, or botanical themes.
  • Enamel Dots & Gems – Add small pops of green for extra dimension.
  • Ribbon, Twine, or Washi Tape – A simple way to bring in color through borders or accents.
  • Buttons & Brads – Small, textured embellishments that add depth.
The green foliage is not the main feature of this layout, but truly stands out in a unique way that draws the eye. It mimics the vines you might see growing in a vineyard. The green grapes and olives are a nice addition, too.
The darker greenery complements the green textured background on this card. You can never go wrong with layering & tucking leaves behind larger elements when crafting.

3. Try Fun Color Combinations with Green

Green plays well with others—so don’t be afraid to mix and match! Some great color pairings include:

  • Green & Gold – Luxurious, warm, and perfect for holiday or vintage-inspired layouts.
  • Green & Pink – A fresh, floral-inspired (or dare I say, Wicked) combo that feels bright and fun.
  • Green & Navy – A sophisticated, deep contrast that works for travel and masculine pages.
  • Green & Orange – Bold, lively, and great for autumn or St. Patty’s Day-themed layouts.
  • Green & Neutrals – A classic combo for a timeless look.
Orange and green...they go better together than you think! Maybe the nod to Ireland's flag when crafting St. Patrick's Day projects is why it works so well.
"Green goes good with pink." (Need I say more?) I LOVE Wicked...so showcasing the pops of pink alongside the greens throughout this layout was a must!
The gold offsets the green so well....no wonder leprechauns are attracted to coins!

4. Incorporate Green in Photos & Titles

Your titles and photos are a great place to sneak in some green! Try these easy ways to add color without overwhelming your layout:

  • Photos, Photo Mats & Frames – Use green to highlight your favorite pictures.
  • Green Letter Stickers or Chipboard – Make your titles stand out with green alphas.
  • Handmade Doodles – Draw fun green borders, swirls, or decorative elements.
It's the green in the photos that are the standout for this 12x12 scrapbooking layout.

5. Use Themed Elements

Green naturally fits into many scrapbook themes, so why not take advantage of it? Here are some fun ways to add it in:

  • Floral & Nature-Themed Die-Cuts – Leaves, vines, trees, or succulents work beautifully.
  • Seasonal Additions – St. Patrick’s Day, Christmas, spring, or tropical elements.
  • Food-Themed Stickers – Green apples, veggies, or even cute coffee or tea motifs.
The green in the XL tree ephemera really pops off this page. It contrasts with the more subtle green floral pattern in the background paper, as well as with the pops of purple.
A post all about green just HAS to feature shamrocks & green beer. I think we just might be TOO cute to pinch. What do you think?!
How could I write a post about green without including a Calvinball page?! It is March, after all. Not only does this colour seem to show up on the list every year, I also featured one of our fave green foods on this layout...an avocado!!

Maybe it Actually IS Easy Being Green!

As you can see, green is actually THE perfect colour…not only for March-themed crafting but for plenty of other projects, too! Green is an easy and effective way to bring energy to any scrapbook page — and bonus, it won’t wilt like that houseplant you keep forgetting to water. Whether you go bold with patterned paper, sprinkle in some enamel dots, or just slap on a few die-cut leaves and call it a day, there’s no wrong way to embrace this colour.

So, how do you like to add green to your layouts? 💚 Until next time…stay fun and fantabulous, scrappers.
