How is That Spending Freeze Going?

Funny you should ask, I’m halfway through the month and it’s going quite well. The first thing I did was delete notifications from my favorite shopping sites. Is it me or did they hear about my spending freeze and decide to release a ton of new products?

I’m also participating in Calvinball and as I dug deep into my supplies I had a revelation-nothing is too precious not to use, if I can’t buy anything I need to use what is on hand to complete a project. Case in point- 49 and Market rub-ons. I hoard these like they are made of solid gold. Well they are on the permanent list for Calvinball points and I am using them with reckless abandonment, and it feels great!

Imagine needing alphas for a title and not having what you need, well better jump into the car and head over to Michael’s and pick some up, who knows maybe those infamous bargain paper pads will also be on sale. Instead I dug out my Cricut (very dusty) and some alphabet dies and created what I needed. I went to a weekend crop this month and brought along my Cricut Joy as well as a small die cut machine, not too heavy or bulky and they came in very handy.

I broke down some collections that are a bit stale. The impetus was a search for just the right shade of pink paper. I pulled paper that I really liked placed the sheets in a bin and the rest will go to a friend who is a Children’s Librarian. Breaking down these older collections freshened up some of my newer kits and tamped down my urge to splurge.

I found things that I forgot I had purchased, namely Black Friday bargains (which actually started in October Remember?) I was saving these items for something special, but special came and went and some gorgeous paper sat forgotten on a shelf.

My plans are to continue my spending freeze for the month of March and I will make a game time decision if I continue into April. I’ll check back in at the end of the month and let you all know How I did.
