HOME FOR A BUNNY

By: Margaret Wise Brown; Illustrated by: Garth Williams; A Little Golden Book 1956…1989

The Joyful exuberance in the opening of this book has fascinated not only my children and grandchildren, but all children to whom I have read this book.  Spring is a joyful season for many because of the resurgence of nature after it’s long winter sleep. I enjoy looking at spring colors and watching the blooming trees, flowers and looking at the little babies coming forth from their nests, burrows, and homes. I could probably quote parts of this book to many mothers and they would possibly know what book I am quoting. (I tried and all those moms in my family knew exactly what it was!) Introducing my absolute favorite spring book for young children.

As I drove around on my Midwest spring visits to crops and family earlier this month, I saw so many colors of nature, that I decided to take photos and create some spring layouts of my own.

At home I did a little patch test of my inks in blues and greens. It was fun just playing with different ideas. Sometimes we just need to play in our scrapping supplies to remember the fun in creating. Here are the grids and colors I played with on my clean 12×12 white papers.

I created a little quick & simple grid and just colored the squares with the inks, then I played using a simple stencil and did the baby wipe reverse stenciling on these colors. It was kinda fun and I enjoyed seeing the results.

I then took it up and level and decided to mix up the colors and stencils! I used 3 blue inks, 1- stencil, then added some green inks and a little reverse stenciling, I didn’t love the results at first, but I know that it often happens that way and I just needed to continue my “playing” I added some CP green shimmer drops and some white ink splashes next. Sometimes messy is ok!

(I Kept) this for playing and creating a layout whenever I was ready!)

Paper creating is also a source of hands-on creativity fun. I chose about 10 papers in both blue and green to try to make some interesting layouts and use different ideas of how to make these not coordinated patterned papers work as a team.

These most definitely do not seem to work together, but by cutting 1” strips off my patterened papers, weaving them and putting onto another green, it created a really nice design for a future layout! (#100 pattern papers)

Now, when you have the time, and feel like exploring, give yourself some freedom to relax and play in your papers and inks. It realy felt like a “spring updue” in my scrapping. Here are some results of my exploration in ink and papers. Please enjoy yourselves with this weekend’s iNSD and also with LOAD526!

So many chances to learn and play in your scrappy spaces.

Here are more of my spring photos and layouts that I thought were perfect for a beautiful spring color study & play!

As @MistyMurphy showed us in her blog, the April Showers bring just lovely flowers. On, trees, as dandelions and in wonderful gardens. Spring also bring us baby birds. (We have 6 Carolina Wrens in one next and 8 Bluebirds in 2 other nesting boxes.)

Enjoy your spring, your photography & ScrapHappy!
